At least he's cute

Today has been one of THOSE days. This is probably only the second or third one of THOSE days we've had in our almost six-month history together. It appears as if Camden is starting to suffer from a small case of separation anxiety. Over the past few days he's randomly started losing his mind if one of us walks out of the room. It was cute the first time, but now I think the days of me going to the bathroom alone are long gone! But at least he's still cute.

The gift of deafness

Nana's birthday was yesterday. Happy Birthday! We had the bright idea to take her to see Blues Traveler at Horseshoe to celebrate. It was a good show, but it was LOUD. We didn't get the greatest seats, but that turned out to be a good thing. John Popper would play the heck out of a harmonica for a little while and then chunk it into the crowd. I'm pretty sure I'd have been a little upset if I had been beamed in the head by a slimy harmonica. So, while we may have deafened Nana and Chappy, at least they didn't leave covered in some formerly fat guy's spit! Maybe we'll come up with something better next year!

Much better

Camden is doing much better today! We had a normal night of sleep (normal being that he only woke up once). I needed that. Dr. Scott called in a prescription for some allergy medicine that seems to have taken care of the problem. Blake told me the other day that he didn't think Camden was mine (he thinks he's funny), but I think the allergy thing proves otherwise. It would have been nice had the kid gotten something from his mom other than allergies! But I'm not going to complain much, because we are fortunate that there haven't been any other health issues to deal with to this point.

Another first

We have another first on our hands, but unfortunately this is not one of the firsts to celebrate. Camden has his first runny nose. My allergies have been acting up, which lands me with congestion, sneezing and a runny nose, and it seems that I passed something onto Camden. I feel pretty bad about that. I really don't know why I'm shocked, because with all the open-mouthed kisses he gives these days he was bound to come down with something. Poor guy hasn't been able to sleep very well - I think mostly because he hasn't figured out that he should breathe through his mouth when his nose doesn't work. We slept propped up in the recliner from 4 a.m. on last night so his drainage didn't keep him up. Sad stuff!

New Friends

We had a play date yesterday with Camden's new friend, Alex. Alex let his parents, Anne Marie and Brett, come over, too. One baby would fuss while the other was happy, and one would sleep while the other was awake playing. ( I told Blake it was probably a good glimpse into the future!)

This is one of the few times they were both alert and happy.

We had a nice afternoon, but it was obviously pretty hard on my two boys!

Getting Together

Last night we had a family gathering at Haley and Chris' house so we could visit with Aunt Kay and Uncle Gordon. Thanks for hosting, Woollens! There was lots of yummy food and good company (and the biggest homemade cake I've ever seen). Here are some highlights, which all include Camden (of course!):

Check-up

I had my second prenatal check-up on Tuesday. Everything was just fine. I'm still pregnant and I'm still due on February 8th. The doc had some trouble finding the heartbeat, which didn't immediately panic me since he uses equipment from the early 1980s. After he told me he wanted to do an ultrasound and left the room I got a little worried. He immediately found a little baby kicking both legs, which made me feel a ton better. We go back on September 11th to try to see if Camden will get a little brother or a little sister!

Chappy turned 60 yesterday! Happy Birthday, Chappy! Here are some photos from the birthday dinner tonight.

Competition!

Camden did really well at Gymboree again today. He only lost his mind after his thumb got stuck in one of the holes in the little balls they play with during tummy time. Last week he was the only boy in the class, and of course he thought he was cool. Well today we learned that we have some competition. Some really cute competition! Alex was on vacation last week, so we didn't get to meet him until today. (He's the cute little guy in stripes in the first picture.) It turns out that Blake and I saw Alex and his parents at Superior one day back in May. We had left Camden with Nana and Chappy so we could have an adult night, but we couldn't stay away from little Alex. He really made us miss our little guy. Somehow I put two-and-two together today and figured out where I knew Alex's mom, Anne Marie, from. And here's an interesting fact: Alex will turn 1 in mid-February and has a new sibling scheduled to arrive on February 21st! Turns out Anne Marie and I have A LOT in common, and I have a feeling we'll become fast friends. I think Camden and I are both really going to enjoy our weekly play time!

The Pool Guy

We had a play date at the Cormier's today. Camden chilled out in the pool.

Family Time

Here are some pictures from our Sunday morning. Sorry about the naked parts, but I couldn't help myself!
*** UPDATE: I might be in trouble when Blake sees this, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.

Just to make myself feel better . . .

Today I ran into the lady from whom we bought our house in Greenwood. (How's that for correct grammar, Haley?) Ironically, they now live about 2 minutes from us, which is beside the point. The point: her daughter had a baby on February 28th, so we were comparing notes on the kiddos when I blurted out "and I'm pregnant again, if you can believe that". I was SO thrilled to hear her say "so is Jennifer!" I know that we aren't the first people this has happened to, and certainly won't be the last, but it really made me feel better to find someone else in our predicament. Is that wrong?

A Close Encounter of the Doggy Kind

Abigail is always intrigued by Camden's squeals, and during tummy time tonight he was full of them. She moved in for a closer inspection.

A Close Encounter of the Docile Kind

We went to Haley and Chris' last night for dinner. Haley caught this magical moment shared between two cousins. It's magical only because it didn't involve any kicking, poking, pinching or sword-fighting on Aidan's part. Way to go, AA!

Happy 5 Months, Camden!

Camden is 5 months old today. This has been a really fast 5 months. I suppose before we know it he'll be grown. What a sad thought! We'll do our best to cherish every single moment with him. Remind me I said that when he's screaming uncontrollably in public or beating his little brother or sister in the head with a blunt object!

He was being a little shy for his picture today.

What a cute pair of feet, huh?

Play date

I took Camden to Gymboree today. We sang some songs, learned some infant massage techniques, played with a big parachute and had tummy time on a mirror with colorful balls rolling around. They really know how to make tummy time interesting! They have a really neat program to keep their attention. The instructor said she only expected about 10 minutes out of them, but 30 minutes into the class all three kids were still paying attention. He really enjoyed himself, and in spite of the fact that it was WAYYY past nap time, he waited until the very end to get fussy. Here are some pictures of the cutest kid in the class:
We also stopped by Blake's office for lunch before our play date. Camden finally didn't cry at Pop Steve and instead showed him how he's learning to give kisses. They were both pretty slobbery!
