New Year Quiz

This took forever, so you bee-otches better appreciate it and/or fill one out yourselves and send it back to me! I robbed it from a mommy blog I frequent, http://www.sundrymourning.com/.

1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before? became the mother of two beautiful babies and then got pregnant by a man who had a vasectomy

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I typically don't make resolutions because I'm not the type to keep them. But if I did make one last year, it was probably not to get pregnant in 2008. Whoops. I'm not tempting fate by speaking of 2009.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? My friends Anne Marie, Jen, Jennifer, Erin and Wendy - and me (I'm pretty close to me).

4. Did anyone close to you die? no

5. What countries did you visit? Mexico

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? A glass (or maybe a bottle) of champagne at Christmas and New Year's.

7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? January 24th - Landry's birthday

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? giving birth and learning how to survive with two babies

9. What was your biggest failure? does a vasectomy failure count?

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? fortunately I did not

11. What was the best thing you bought? gosh, I don't know.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Blake's. Not only does he seem to balance work and family very well, he also had the best year SAFE Planning has ever had. Most of you know his dad moved to Florida, so he did it all by himself (along with his wonderful support staff).

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? I can't put this answer in writing. Call me - I'll tell you!

14. Where did most of your money go? probably to diapers and formula

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Landry's birth and Camden walking

16. What song will always remind you of 2008? I'm Yours - Jason Mraz

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:a) happier or sadder?b) thinner or fatter?c) richer or poorer? Happier, definitely thinner than this time last year, richer in many ways

18. What do you wish you’d done more of? travel

19. What do you wish you’d done less of? ha! I'll bypass this question. You guys can fill in the blanks.

20. How did you spend Christmas? with my family, of course

21. Did you fall in love in 2008? I did - with a little red head

22. What was your favorite TV program? Grey's Anatomy, I guess

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? I'm not a hater

24. What was the best book you read? The Final Lecture

25. What was your greatest musical discovery? "What's gonna work? Teamwork!" - as performed by the Wonderpets

26. What did you want and get? a healthy baby girl - after a small glitch

27. What did you want and not get? I can't really think of anything, which must be a good sign.

28. What was your favorite film of this year? Considering I only saw two movies in 2008, both of which happened to be Will Smith flicks, I'll go with the one that didn't scare the bejeeesus out of me: 7 Pounds.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I had dinner at The Mabry House with several good friends. I turned 33.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? winning the lottery. I mean, I've already won the husband and child lottery, but the actual money lottery would be great.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? uh, how about this: My kids look really cute! I personally dress them.

32. What kept you sane? A very helpful and involved husband.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I haven't kept up very well since I don't have time for my People magazine anymore.

34. What political issue stirred you the most? I suppose the presidential election, although sadly, politics don't stir me much.

35. Who did you miss? My far away cousins.

36. Who was the best new person you met? I'm sure I met new people, right? Doesn't everyone meet new people all the time? I guess I didn't let any of them stick around.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008. This lesson began in 2007, but continued to grow in 2008, and will continue for the rest of my life: Never, ever, ever say anything beginning with "my kids will never do . . .". I'm eating a lot of crow these days, but I like to think I'm doing it gracefully.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. This song doesn't sum up my year, more like almost the last decade, but if it weren't for stumbling upon Blake almost 9 years ago, my 2008 would be nothing like it was. So here's a little Lila McCann for you, from the song "To Get Me to You" from the Hope Floats soundtrack:

And I don't regret the rain
Or the nights I felt the pain
Or the tears I had to cry
Some of those times along the way
Every road I had to take
Every time my heart would break
It was just something that I had to get through
To get me to you
